Meet Westover

Westover is so fun and full of energy!  He made me smile through the whole session!  He has such a sweet presence about him. I hope he brings a smile to you!

How old are you? Five years old, but I will be six in two days!

How old were you when you were diagnosed with T1D? 5 years old

What is your favorite subject in school? Art and painting

How did you feel when you were diagnosed? Not good

What do you like to do for fun? Play soccer, swim, and play with my friends

How did you find out you were diabetic? My mom took me to the doctor because I wasn’t feeling good, and she knew something wasn’t right. She knows a few other parents who have kids with T1D and was aware of some of the symptoms like being really thirsty. So she took me in and asked them to check my blood sugar. It was really high.

Do you like being diabetic? Kinda yes and no. I like the candy for when I’m "low", but I don’t like changing my pump and my CGM.

What is cool about being diabetic? Getting a phone. I have to have one so that my CGM will transmit data to my parents’ phones so they can always see my blood sugar. Sometimes I get to use it to play video games or watch shows on though.

What is your favorite food?  Strawberry and Vanilla Ice Cream

What is your favorite movie? Caroline

Where is your favorite restaurant? Pei Wei and Koze

Where is your favorite place to vacation? Hawaii

If you could have any 3 wishes granted, what would they be? To have a toy remote helicopter, to go to Hawaii, and to go to Mexico.

Who is your favorite tv/book/story character and what do you like about him/her? Batman. I like that he can fly.

If you could have any animal in the world as a pet, what would it be? A pet hamster.

If you woke up tomorrow with a superpower what would it be? I would want to fly!
